John Alderete
BA in Language Studies, 1992; MA in Linguistics, 1993 I received the Ph.D. in Linguistics from University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1999. I'm now a postdoctoral fellow at the Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science and a part-time lecturer in Linguistics at Rutgers University. [How has your UCSC education in Language Studies and Linguistics helped you in your current career?] You get a solid background in formal linguistics at UCSC, whether you take the undergrad sequence or take the grad courses. I felt that the argumentation skills and ability to organize and analyze language data I developed at UCSC really helped later in research and in getting my Ph.D. Return to Life After the Department main page
