We welcome your news items, comments and feedback. *************************************** Whole-hearted congratulations to Line Mikkelsen who successfully defended her doctoral dissertation with poise and clarity on Monday, May 17, 2004. Specifying who: On the structure, meaning, and use of specificational clauses Serving on Line's committee were: Judith Aissen, Donka Farkas, Bill Ladusaw, and Jim McCloskey, chair. Line has accepted a tenure-track position in the Linguistics Department at UC Berkeley beginning July 1st. She will be teaching a variety of syntax classes to both undergraduate and graduate students. Bravo! *************************************** A big thank you to all the students who helped out with SWOT-- especially those who made trips to the airport and hosted visiting students-- and in particular the "SWOT team" of Aaron Kaplan, David Teeple, and Ember Van Allen who did a great job of organizing everything to make it go so smoothly.
