Congratulations to Emily Manetta who, on Friday April 9th, passed her
Qualifying Exam and advanced to candidacy. Emily based her exam on a
paper analyzing agreement and cliticization patterns in Kashmiri and
Brokskat. The committee consisted of Judith Aissen, Sandy Chung, and
Jim McCloskey, with Nirvikar Singh of the department of Economics as
external member.

Now that it's official: coming this fall, Adam Albright will be joining the MIT linguistics department. This is quite exciting, though he will, of course be sorry to leave UCSC, and we will miss him very much!
