Bravo! *************************************** Congratulations to Adam Ussishkin and Andy Wedel who have accepted two tenure-track positions in the Linguistics Department at the University of Arizona (bringing the total number of phonetics/phonology faculty in the department to 8!). Adam and Andy both are going to be appointed faculty in the cognitive science program as well, and on top of that, Andy will also have an appointment in the department of neuroscience! The other job offers they were got were all double tenure-track positions, and were from the University of Chicago, and the University of Southern California. Needless to say, they were thrilled about it all. *************************************** Hearty congratulations to Pete Alrenga who received a Graduate Research Fellowship from the NSF (National Science Foundation)! He comments: Everything about the book is a credit to the authors and the publishers. It is authoritative, interesting, reasonably priced (for a book of this size), beautifully designed, well proofread, and enjoyable to handle. Without training, few owners will have the arm strength to read it on the beach or in the bath, but those who can would probably enjoy the experience. ***************************************************************** EVENTS Philosophy Colloquium Jonathan Ellis, UC Santa Cruz "Can an Externalist about Thought Be an Internalist about Experience?"
