Semantics Reading Group

Semantics Reading Group exists to allow close collaborative discussion of work in semantics that is of interest to those involved.

Meetings take place off campus on Monday evenings between 6 and 8pm.

For Spring 2008, the reading group will be organized around the topic of dialogue context and belief. The central question that will guide this exploration is how individuals, both by themselves and in conjunction with others, update their views of reality. While this question has received some attention in linguistic circles, it has become one of the fundamental questions in artificial intelligence. The literature on this topic is vast, and so the group has decided to focus for this quarter on a reading list consisting of three papers and two books. Details of the readings may be obtained from Pranav Anand.

The first meeting will take place on Monday April 14th.
