Ling 80B: Modern English Grammar

A modern, nonprescriptive approach to English grammar. Review and demystification of traditional grammar; introduction to the methods, categories, and insights of modern linguistics as applied to the study of English. This course does not satisfy any requirement for the linguistics major. Regular exercises in writing.

Prerequisites: none.
