Syntax Three

Ling 114: Syntax Three

Building on the foundation established in Syntax 1 and 2, Syntax 3 explores further theoretical issues and a wider range of phenomena, with the goal of bringing students to a point where they have a coherent view of the overall edifice of syntactic theory. Specific topics vary from offering to offering, but are selected so as to illuminate, enrich, and sharpen the theoretical perspectives developed in earlier courses. Required work will include homework problems, reading of the primary research literature, a sequence of squibs, and a substantial final paper.

Prerequisites: Ling 113 (Syntax Two).

General Education Code: W (Writing-Intensive).
