How to get to the UCSC Linguistics Department

All administrative offices and most faculty offices for The Linguistics department are in Stevenson college on the eastern side of the UCSC campus.

To get to the campus by car, see the directions here. Information on public transit can be found on the TAPS page under "Travel Connections". In particular, find out about travel to and from airports here, and using the Santa Cruz Metro bus system to get to campus here.

Free shuttles run on a regular basis on campus. The closest bus/shuttle stop to the department is the "Cowell College/Bookstore" stop on Hagar drive. To get to Stevenson, walk up the hill through Cowell.

Once you're on campus, finding some pieces of the linguistics department can be tricky. The main locations are shown in the following map:

The main offices are on the second floor of Stevenson college. The Linguistics Graduate Commons (sometimes called the "cave") is in the basement of the Stevenson library; the entrance is in the rear. The "music room" is on the road to the Provost's house, as shown on the map. Most graduate student office hours are held in one of these locations. Faculty office hours are typically at their offices in Stevenson (Sandy Chung and Bill Ladusaw have their offices in Cowell College).
